When you are looking to store your personal belongings there are a few different things that you want to look for in a storage company. it can be a little scary actually leaving some of your belongings somewhere that is out of your sight and care, but you may be in a situation where you absolutely have to. No matter what the reason that you need to find a place to store your things. you want to make sure that your belongings are safe from everything. Here are a few things to look for in your storage unit.

Pest Proof

One thing that you are gong to want to look for is if the place is completely pest proof. You would not want to keep your things at a friends house because they may have a problem with pests. In order to fid if there is a pest problem, talk with the manager of the storage facility and see what they do to keep the pests away from the storage facility. Most storage facilities are going to spray for different pests. However, when you are looking at your storage unit make sure to inspect it for fecal pellets and different insects. If you do not see any sign of pests, you have found a pest free storage unit. 

Weather Proof

You are not going to want your things to be affected by the every day weather. When you are looking at the storage unit you are going to want to look for any water stains. You will want to inspect the wall and the ceiling to see if there is any place that water could be leaking through. You may once again talk with the storage manager and ask how they are able to protect against water damage. If they regularly check for leaks and have any leaks fixed quickly then you most likely found a location where you will not have to worry about the elements.

Burglar Proof

You most definitely do not want your things taken by a thief, and if you leave your things at your parents or a friends house, they may not be protected. Most of the storage facilities that you can rent are going to take theft very seriously. You may notice that there is only one entrance and to gain entry you have to have a specific code. Once a burglar is inside the locks that the storage units usually use are extremely hard to cut. You can also talk with the manager and see if they have video surveillance of the storage units.
