If you have a very expensive collection on display in your home, then your home might not be secure enough. Any time you allow anyone into your home and they see your collection, that is one more time you may be letting the wrong person know you have something expensive in your home that they could steal for a big profit. Neighbors who come in, a traveler who broke down and has asked to use your phone, or even a repair person who comes in to fix something can all be potential threats. Even if they aren't criminals, they may tell someone else about your great collection, and that person may be a criminal. It's a better idea to keep your expensive collection somewhere where it is out of sight from prying eyes.
